
Installing a Figabytes eSIM on your iPhone using a QR code is quick and straightforward. This method is recommended if you have access to another screen (such as a laptop, tablet, or another phone) to display the QR code.
Before you begin, make sure your iPhone is eSIM-compatible, unlocked, and connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.
Before You Start
Please ensure the following:
- Your iPhone supports eSIM
- Your iPhone is unlocked
- You have a reliable Wi-Fi connection
- Your iPhone is updated to the latest iOS version
- Your Figabytes eSIM QR code is ready (sent after purchase)
Step-by-Step: Install eSIM via QR Code on iPhone
Step 1: Open Settings
On your iPhone, open Settings.
Step 2: Go to Mobile Data
Tap Mobile Data (or Cellular, depending on your iOS version).
Step 3: Add an eSIM
Tap Add eSIM or Add Cellular Plan.
Your camera will open automatically.
Step 4: Scan the QR Code
Use your iPhone’s camera to scan the Figabytes eSIM QR code.
Make sure:
- The QR code is clear and well-lit
- You are connected to Wi-Fi
- You scan the QR code only once
Step 5: Confirm Installation
When prompted, tap Add Cellular Plan or Continue.
Your iPhone will begin downloading the eSIM profile. This may take a few moments.
Step 6: Label Your eSIM
You’ll be asked to label your eSIM.
Suggested labels:
- “Figabytes Travel”
- “Figabytes Data”
This makes it easier to identify your eSIM if you have more than one mobile plan.
Step 7: Set Default Line Preferences
When prompted, you can choose:
- Which line to use for mobile data
- Which line to use for calls and messages
If you’re traveling, we recommend:
- Keeping your primary SIM for calls/messages
- Using Figabytes for mobile data
Step 8: Keep the eSIM Turned Off Until Needed
If you’re installing the eSIM before traveling:
- Leave the Figabytes eSIM turned off
- Turn it on only after you arrive at your destination
This helps ensure your plan activates at the correct time.
How to Activate the eSIM After Arrival
Once you arrive at your destination:
- Open Settings
- Go to Mobile Data
- Turn on your Figabytes eSIM
- Enable Data Roaming for that eSIM
- Set Figabytes as your mobile data line
Your iPhone should connect to a local network within a few minutes.
If the QR Code Doesn’t Work
If scanning the QR code fails:
- Check that Wi-Fi is stable
- Clean your camera lens
- Increase brightness on the screen displaying the QR code
If the issue continues, you can install the eSIM using manual installation details instead.
Important Information
- Each QR code can be used only once
- Do not delete the eSIM after installation unless instructed
- Deleting the eSIM may require a replacement profile
