Hotspot Not Working on Your Figabytes eSIM? Here’s How to Fix It

Hotspot Not Working on Your Figabytes eSIM? Here’s How to Fix It

Using your Figabytes eSIM as a hotspot (tethering) is a great way to share your mobile data with a laptop, tablet, or another device while traveling.
But sometimes, the hotspot may not connect or may stop working.

This guide explains why hotspot issues happen and the quick steps to fix them on both iPhone and Android.

🔍 Common Reasons Hotspot May Not Work

Hotspot problems usually happen due to:

  • Incorrect APN settings

  • Hotspot not enabled on the device

  • Data line not set to Figabytes

  • Low/weak network signal

  • Power-saving or data-saving modes

  • VPN or firewall interference

  • Temporary network congestion

  • Device restrictions (regional firmware differences)

Most of these are easy to solve.

Fix 1 — Ensure Mobile Data Is Set to Figabytes

Your phone must use Figabytes as the primary data line.

iPhone

Settings → Mobile Data → Mobile Data Line → Figabytes

Android

Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Mobile Data → Figabytes

If your home SIM is selected for data, hotspot will not work.

Fix 2 — Turn Hotspot ON (Correct Setting)

iPhone

  1. Settings

  2. Personal Hotspot

  3. Turn on “Allow Others to Join”

  4. Make sure Maximize Compatibility is ON if you have connection issues

Android

  1. Settings

  2. Hotspot & Tethering

  3. Enable Wi-Fi Hotspot

Fix 3 — Add or Verify the APN Settings

Hotspot often fails if the APN is missing or incorrect.

Use the APN provided in your Figabytes order email.

iPhone

  1. Settings → Mobile Data

  2. Mobile Data Network

  3. Enter APN under:

    • Mobile Data

    • Personal Hotspot (same APN)

Restart your phone afterward.

Android

  1. Settings → Network & Internet → Mobile Networks

  2. Access Point Names (APN)

  3. Add new APN

  4. Enter the Figabytes APN

  5. Save → Restart device

Fix 4 — Turn Data Roaming ON

Since the Figabytes eSIM relies on roaming networks while abroad:

iPhone

Settings → Mobile Data → Figabytes → Data Roaming ON

Android

Settings → SIMs → Figabytes → Roaming ON

Without roaming, hotspot & data may stop working.

Fix 5 — Disable VPN, Firewalls, or Data-Saver Modes

VPNs and security apps can block hotspot functionality.

  • Turn VPN OFF

  • Disable Data Saver Mode

  • Turn off Low Power Mode or Battery Saver

Try hotspot again.

Fix 6 — Reset Hotspot / Network Settings

iPhone

Settings → General → Transfer or Reset → Reset Network Settings

Android

Settings → System → Reset Options → Reset Wi-Fi, Mobile & Bluetooth

(Note: This will remove saved Wi-Fi networks.)

Fix 7 — Try Hotspot on Another Device

If hotspot works on another device, the issue is with:

  • Laptop’s network adapter

  • Tablet Wi-Fi settings

  • VPN/security software

Try:

  • Forget network → reconnect

  • Restart laptop/tablet

  • Disable firewall temporarily

🧪 Fix 8 — Check Signal Strength

Hotspot needs strong 4G/5G signal.

If you have only 1–2 bars:

  • Try moving near a window

  • Switch between 4G/5G if your menu allows

  • Toggle Airplane Mode ON → OFF

🧩 If Hotspot Is Still Not Working

Send Figabytes Support the following:

  • Your device model

  • iOS/Android version

  • Screenshot of APN settings

  • Screenshot of Hotspot settings

  • Screenshot of SIM/Mobile Data page

  • Your order ID

We will help diagnose the issue and provide the correct configuration.

Most cases are fixed by:

  • Setting Figabytes as the main data SIM

  • Adding APN
