“Cellular Plans From This Carrier Cannot Be Added” — What It Means & How to Fix It (Figabytes Guide)
.png&w=3840&q=75)
When installing your Figabytes eSIM, you may sometimes see this message:
“Cellular Plans from this Carrier Cannot Be Added.”
This is an Apple/Android system error that appears before the eSIM is fully downloaded.
The good news: it’s usually easy to fix and is not a problem with your Figabytes plan itself.
Below is a simple explanation of why this happens and how to solve it.
❗ Why This Error Occurs
This message generally appears when your device blocks the eSIM installation due to one of these reasons:
1. Your phone is locked to a specific carrier
Most commonly seen on iPhones purchased from a telecom provider.
A locked device cannot accept travel eSIMs.
2. Your device region doesn’t match the eSIM profile
Example: a China-market iPhone (without global eSIM support) trying to add a travel eSIM.
3. Your OS blocked the link or QR temporarily
Apple/Android sometimes rejects installation if:
The connection dropped
The install timed out
The activation server didn’t respond fast enough
4. The eSIM profile was previously downloaded
If the eSIM has been used on another device, this message may appear.
✅ Fix 1 — Check If Your Device Is Unlocked
iPhone
Go to:
Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock
If it says “No SIM restrictions” → your phone is unlocked.
If it shows a carrier name → your phone is locked and cannot install travel eSIMs.
Android (Samsung/Pixel/others)
Insert a SIM from another carrier.
If it works → unlocked.
If not → locked.
Solution if locked:
You must request an unlock from your carrier before using Figabytes.
✅ Fix 2 — Restart Your Device and Try Again
This clears temporary installation blocks.
Restart your iPhone/Android
Connect to strong Wi-Fi
Retry scanning the QR code or clicking the install link
✅ Fix 3 — Install Using the Direct Link (iPhone)
If QR fails, try the Universal Link:
Open the link from your Figabytes order email
Make sure it opens in Safari, not another app
Tap Continue → Add eSIM
If another app blocks the link, long-press and choose Open in Safari.
✅ Fix 4 — Update Your Operating System
Older iOS/Android versions sometimes block new eSIM profiles.
iPhone
Settings → General → Software Update
Android
Settings → Software Update
After updating, restart and retry installation.
✅ Fix 5 — Try Manual Installation
If the system blocks the QR code entirely:
iPhone
Settings → Mobile Data → Add eSIM → Enter Details Manually
Android
Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Add eSIM → Enter activation code
Enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code from your Figabytes order.
❗ Fix 6 — Check Device Compatibility
Some models do not support eSIM depending on region:
Certain iPhone models in China
Older Android devices
Budget devices without eSIM support
If your phone doesn’t support eSIM, installation will always fail.
🚫 Fix 7 — The eSIM Was Previously Used
If the eSIM profile was already:
Downloaded
Activated
Deleted
Installed on another device
…it cannot be used again.
👉 Contact Figabytes Support for a replacement eSIM.

Your Figabytes eSIM will be ready in minutes once the phone accepts the profile.
